A WOMAN who was caught driving while under the influence of drugs has been has been banned from driving.

Jade Roberts, 26, from Basildon appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on September 6 after she was arrested by Essex Police for driving whilst under the influence of drugs.

On February 10 2021, Roberts was stopped by police in Mitchells Avenue, Canvey Island while driving her Toyota Aygo.

The vehicle and driver were searched and, based on evidence of drug usage in the vehicle, Roberts was subjected to a roadside drugs wipe.

Roberts subsequently failed the roadside drugs wipe and was arrested for driving whilst under the influence of drugs.

She was then taken into custody where a blood sample was obtained.

According to Essex Police, a forensic report showed that Roberts had 516ug/L of cocaine in their system.

They added the limit for the cocaine breakdown chemical Benzoylecgonine (BZE) is 50ug/L.

Roberts has now been banned from driving for twelve months and was ordered to pay £259 in fines and court fees.

Investigating officer, PC Sheridan said: "We continue to proactively remove drug and drink drivers off the road, who cause a considerable risk to other road users and pedestrians alike."
