FIRE crews were called to respond after a house's roof caught fire.
Firefighters from Orsett and Corringham fire stations were called to Grove Road in Stanford-le-Hope yesterday (Friday, September 10).
Reports said a residential home bungalow's roof had caught fire, prompting the call out at 4.14pm.
Residents in the house were alerted to the fire after their neighbours spotted smoke coming from the roof.
The occupants then immediately made their way out of the house and called Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
An Essex Fire Service spokesman said: "On arrival, crews reported that the roof of a bungalow was on fire and smoke logged.
Crews extinguished the fire by 4:43pm. The cause of the fire was accidental."
