The shipyard is understood to be in close contact with those leading the local response to the pandemic with a view to providing support.

Barrow Eats has seen a huge growth in customers and takeaways sign up because of the lockdown.

Many firms are also looking to home deliver in response to the enforced closure of shops and restaurants.

This week the Olympic Chippy in Buccleuch Street and Thomas’s Bakery signed up to Barrow Eats with more set to be confirmed in the coming days.
