A DJ has sent a warm message of gratitude to NHS staff and key workers for their efforts during the coronavirus crisis.

Norman Cook, known as Fatboy Slim, posted a video on Twitter yesterday in which he addressed doctors, nurses and key workers, and said he must “praise you like I should”, echoing the lyrics from his 1998 hit Praise You.

The DJ, who lives in Hove, said: “I’m not going to say ‘you’ve come a long, long way together’ because that would be corny.

“I’m not gonna say ‘through the hard times and the good’, because that would be trite.

“But what I will say is: I have to praise you like I should.

“The job you are doing is keeping this country afloat. Everyone in my household locked down in Portslade and everyone in the whole country thanks you from the bottom of our heart.

“Keep it up, and as soon as I can I’d love to come and entertain you.”
