A DJ will now play a set through Facebook after hundreds of pounds was raised through Go Fund Me when all of his gigs were cancelled.

The fundraiser is one of 10 good causes that people in Oxfordshire are donating their cash to after coronavirus halted plans, closed shops and left the vulnerable in more need than ever.

In no particular order:

  • Oxford doctors and nurses are trying to raise £250,000 to fund vital PPE equipment.

Doctors Aman Sharma and Salma Chaudhury and nurse Jaswinder Sami will buy gloves, masks and aprons and then deliver them to NHS staff.

  • The Fox and Hounds in Watlington is offering an incentive for people who help keep them open.

The team need to raise £5,000 to pay staff wages and bills and anybody who helps them reach the goal will be given 50 per cent of the donation in a voucher to spend at the pub. A £20 donation will buy a £10 spend.

  • A volunteer group will grow food for people in need at some old tennis courts with the help of the donations, which have already flooded in.

  • Sanitary products will be donated to people who can't afford them or are stuck in self-isolation.

  • Ollie East will play a DJ set on social media after gigs at nightclubs in Oxford were cancelled when venues closed.

  • Woodstock Football Club will pay its players, who are also tradesmen, to help people in the community.

Any left over money will be given to struggling local businesses.

  • Residents in Carterton have teamed up to make a pot of money that will be used to buy food for people in need.
