A MAN from Stockport has been charged with attempted murder following a 'horrific assault' in Sankey Bridges.
David Laponda, from Cale Green in Stockport, was arrested on Wednesday at an address on Warren Road.
The 35-year-old has now been charged with attempted murder.
The attack happened at around 11.15am on Saturday – with a 35-year-old man from Widnes suffering serious injuries after being hit in the head with the weapon.
He presented himself at Warrington Hospital, but has since been released.
Laponda has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court today, Friday.
