ECHOSPORT talks to Rotherham United fan Finlay Ibbotson ahead of the game tomorrow.

What have you made of the season so far?

“We had a tough start to the season and the results weren’t the best early on.

“But after Christmas we’ve really kicked on and we’ve lost just two of our last 16 League games now.

“We’ve got ourselves into a good position with nine games to go.”

You’re currently second in the table, two points clear of Oxford who are third. How confident are you of staying in the top two?

“Saturday is a huge game for us and must win really. If we do win I’m confident we can kick on and finish in the top two to secure automatic promotion this season.

“But we have some big games coming up as we still have to play Fleetwood, Wycombe, Portsmouth, Doncaster and Sunderland who are also trying to go up.”

What do you feel have been the main reasons for the good results so far?

“The never say die attitude of the team is huge and this has been shown by how many late goals we’ve scored this season. Also having three players scoring double figures has helped massively.”

What style do the team play?

“We play in a 4-4-2 formation. A high press is a key part of our game and we really like to get it out wide and use the full width of the pitch.”

Who would you say is the dangerman?

“Matt Crooks is a real danger in the middle of the park and will look to control the game. Michael Smith is always a real handful for defenders with his height and strength. And, with 17 goals this season, Freddie Ladapo is a danger in the box.

What’s the team news for Saturday’s game?

“Michael Ihiekwe, one of our key players this season, is out for six weeks. Clark Robertson is out for the season and Dan Barlaser may not be fit in time.”
