SONNY Bill Williams will not want to be reminded of his last appearance at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The dual code New Zealand international, set to make his first Super League appearance on Warrington Wolves turf tonight, was the star attraction as a sell-out 15,000 crowd crammed in to see the Kiwis face Samoa in the opening game of Group B in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

Superstar back-rower Williams and his Kiwis teammates were cruising when a bit of fisticuffs in the 50th minute seemed to spark Samoa into life and, inspired by the humongous charges of the colossus Mose Masoe and the crowd's love for the underdogs, they delivered one of the greatest comebacks in international rugby league to give the holders a real fright.

New Zealand eventually got themselves back on track to seal the result but the comeback would have been curtailed much earlier had it not been for a slapstick gaff from Sonny Bill.

He broke free to score a certain try that would have turned the momentum back New Zealand's way but after he got over the try line he went too far, lost his footing, slipped, and crumpled in a heap partially over the dead-ball line before grounding the ball.

Roars of laughter on the terraces were only silenced by tormenting chants of 'Who are ya, who are ya!'
