Oswestry Town Council has called a by-election for its Cabin Lane Ward after the resignation of Claire Aspinall.
The by-election was announced on social media by Shropshire Council, with details of the vote yet-to-be confirmed.
Ms Aspinall, who stood as a Brexit Party candidate in Warrington South in the December General Election, resigned from her role at the council but still remains a Shropshire councillor in the town.
The decision to hold a by-election is rare with many town councils choosing to co-opt a new member, but residents can state whether they want a new election or not.
Oswestry Town Council will confirm the dates of the by-election as soon as possible.
