SOUTHEND United manager Sol Campbell wants history to be repeated tomorrow afternoon.
AFC Wimbledon remain the only side Campbell has beaten since becoming Blues boss in October.
And Campbell is now keen to secure a second success against the Dons.
“We need points and of course it would be nice to get three against Wimbledon but no two games are ever the same and every game is different,” said Campbell.
“I’m sure there will be personnel changes and it will be something different for us to negotiate.”
The Shrimpers beat AFC Wimbledon 3-1 at Roots Hall in the Leasing.com Trophy back in November.
But Campbell feels the Dons will provide a tough test in the opening clash of 2020.
“We have to watch out for the directness of the ball,” said the 45-year-old.
“We’ve got to make sure we look after second balls and on our toes.
“We have to be resolute in our defenders and then see how we can hurt them.
“They had a game on Sunday so we should have a bit more energy. They might have a bit of a lag in the last 10 or 15 minutes but we’ve got to do our jobs.”
