COSTA Coffee got stuck into Basildon’s lunchtime “litter blitz”.
The coffee company pitched in alongside fellow volunteers to clean up Nevendon Park, on Wednesday.
The brand aims to recycle as many takeaway cups as possible by 2020 and recycle over 12,000 tonnes of used coffee grounds into biofuel, with any food surplus being donated to local charities.
Staci Suckling, store manager of Costa Coffee Wickford, said: “Like our customers, we want to preserve our community and maintain the charm of our area. It’s fantastic that we’ve been able to get involved.”
Gavin Callaghan, leader of Basildon council, said: “We’re grateful for all the companies and community groups, who have supported this lunchtime.”
