VETERANS and councillors marked Merchant Navy Day by flying a special flag from Clacton Town Hall.
Members of the public were invited to attend a short ceremony on yesterdat to see the flag hoisted.
Tendring Council chairman Dan Land started proceedings at 9.55am by reading a message from the Earl of Wessex, president of the Seafarers UK charity, before the Red Ensign flag was hoisted at 10am.
