A 12-year-old girl has been taken to Bristol Children's Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in Cirencester. 

The collision happened on Cripps Road near to the Brewery car park at around 12.10pm yesterday, August 25, and involved a black Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian. 

The girl, who was the pedestrian, has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was physically uninjured in the collision. 

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision. 

The road was closed while an investigation took place and it has since reopened. 

A spokesman for the Gloucestershire Police said: "Officers are investigating the circumstances of the incident and would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police. 

"Anyone with information, or relevant dashcam footage, is asked to call police on 101 and quote incident 180 of August 25."
