A DEVELOPER is planning to demolish one house...and replace it with 14.

Plans have been proposed to tear down the house and outbuildings at Oak House in Bicknacre Road, Bicknacre.

Five two-bedroom, six three-bedroom and three more four-bedroom homes could be built on the plot.

Millen Homes said the plans have been carefully developed to ensure, despite the “existing contextual constraints” of the site, all residents would be comfortable.

Its design and access statement said: “The layout seeks to follow neighbouring building patterns and create a well designed residential development to provide a characterful place in which to live.

“One where shared and private spaces are well defined, human in scale with quality, tactile materials, showing a real sense of ownership and place.”

However residents surrounding the development are not supportive.

Gillian Higgs said the plans will change the character of the area completely.

She said: “There have been many accidents here in the past, also the pavement is very narrow and uneven to walk along. What is proposed is a multiple housing development and that is totally out of character.”

The developer said it will deal with potential traffic complications.
