DELICIOUS ales and ciders will be flowing and drawing a crowd to a picturesque town.

Manningtree Beer Festival is returning for its 15th year, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy a cold drink in the sun.

Organisers have promised a barbecue, managed by staff from The Marlborough, in Dedham, while local musicians will offer entertainment.

The festival will be held from 5.30pm until 9.30pm Friday, and from 12.30pm until 9.30pm on Saturday.

Punters can enjoy a range of real ales and ciders, with 28 barrels of beer and 30 boxes of cider ready to go.

A spokesman for the festival said: “We have also increased the amount of Prosecco and wine available - so how long will we last this year until the final drop is gone?

“A barbecue will be on the go over the weekend and again musicians will be popping down and entertaining us on Saturday afternoon.”

The festival will be held in the marquee at 10 Quay Street, Manningtree, thanks to the Stour Sailing Club.

The spokesman added: “It’s hard to believe this is the 15th year of the festival.

“We hope this year’s event will be as good as the previous ones.

“Looking back, there have been many memorable moments. There is nothing better than looking over the River Stour, sharing a pint with friends and family.

“It is also pleasing to know the whole town benefits from the festival being held with businesses seeing a big increase in trade.

“Another benefit is we are also able to make donations to local charities - last year we raised £2,500.”
