MORE than 1,000 people faced soaring temperatures at this year’s Great Bentley Carnival.
Go Homes and Market Field College hosted the refreshment tent, giving out 500 cups of tea and 500 slices of cake.
Returning for the 44th year, the event had something for everyone with a focus on family fun with a theme of ‘things that fly’.
It was held near the Go Homes development Fusiliers Green and raised much-needed funds for children, youth groups, organisations and schools.
There was a ‘things that fly’ theme during a lively procession as well as raffles, stalls and a silent auction.
Duncan Thomas, head of Market Field College, said: “The carnival allows our students to showcase their skills and build their confidence, whilst enjoying the party atmosphere.
“As always, we’re delighted with the money the generous community at Great Bentley has raised this year.”
Carnival chairwoman Julie Wall said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our generous sponsors along with the event committee who have worked tirelessly to ensure this wonderful tradition continues to succeed in bringing our community together and raising money for local children and youth organisations.”
