RESIDENTS have called for advertising signs to be removed from a town’s iconic seafront shelter.

Alan Eldret, chairman of Frinton Residents’ Association, told Frinton and Walton Town Council that he was unhappy about the signs on the Clock Tower Shelter on the town’s Greensward.

Speaking from the public gallery at a meeting of the council on Thursday, he called on councillors to take action.

He said: “The clock tower on the greensward has two screwed on adverts for AJ Property Maintenance, which are quite distinct, and I think spoil what is an iconic symbol of the town.”

He said he was concerned about screw marks on the structure and said that for signs to be put up is “quite wrong” regardless of whether the company is carrying out the maintenance.

He is also called for action to remove advertising signs, for a storage company in Clacton, which are on side of flat above Harry’s Bar in Connaught Avenue.
