SOUTHEND Pier's entrance has reopened to visitors after a major revamp.
The new entrance has better access for wheelchair users, a new reception, café, seating area, and toilets.
The total cost of the project is £480,000 following additional capital funding in 2018/19
Kevin Robinson, councillor for business, culture and tourism, said: “The pier is often referred to as the jewel in the crown of Southend, and it is only fitting that we repair and improve the landmark.
“The entrance will help more visitors to access the pier, and provide a welcoming experience where visitors can relax with a tea or coffee before braving the 1.33 mile walk.
“We are delighted with how the finished product looks."
The new pier works were carried out by A.W Hardy & Co.
