A THUG who assaulted, stole from and threatened a former friend in the street has been jailed for four months.

In October 2017, Angela Holland approached the victim near to Clacton’s Post Office and began shouting and swearing at her, demanding she hand over cash.

Inside the Post Office there was a confrontation about about exchanges over social media during which Holland, 43, slapped the victim and clipped her around the side of the face.

Fearing for her safety, the victim handed over £10 before the two went their separate ways.

The day after the offence, Holland was interviewed under caution by police where she denied any assault had taken place.

But just days later, the mother-of-eight approached the victim again in the street calling her obscene names.

Holland, formerly of Burrs Road, Clacton, who has 19 convictions for 34 offences, was charged with theft, common assault and threatening behaviour, charges she admitted before trial.

Richard Sedgwick, prosecuting, told Chelmsford Crown Court at a sentencing hearing on Friday the pair had been friends but had not seen each other for several years due to “ill feeling” between them.

He said: “There were no lasting injuries caused however the victim was so scared she wet herself. She found the experience deeply traumatic and as a result she modified her daily routine and takes taxis everywhere.

“She had to take time off work and she believes it has contributed to her losing her job.”

Holland is already part way through a four year sentence at Peterborough Prison for aggravated burglary and taking a motor vehicle without consent.

Nneka Akudolu, mitigating, said Holland was addicted to Class A drugs at the time.

“She is no longer addicted to drugs and the author of the pre-sentence report is impressed she has demonstrated a determination to leave prison drug free and remain that way,” she said.

Judge Christopher Morgan sentenced Holland to one month for theft, four months for common assault and three months for threatening behaviour. The sentences will run concurrently with each other but consecutive to her existing four year sentence.
