A YOUNGSTER has been reunited with his beloved blanket thanks to the kindness of a Good Samaritan on Easter Sunday.

The mum, who asked not to be named, was in Manningtree Co-op on Saturday evening and accidentally left her four-year-old son’s comfort blanket in the store.

When she got home and realised the blanket was missing, she tried to call the store - but it was closed until Bank Holiday Monday.

She said: “My son has a global developmental delay, meaning he has very few words, general physical delays, extreme vulnerability, sensory issues and is generally a very timid and shy little boy.

“He has had this particular blanket since birth and is never without it, it goes everywhere he goes and it brings him the comfort and security he needs.”

When she realised the blanket was left in the store her son was very upset.

On Easter Sunday, she put a plea out on social media asking if anyone knew whether staff or security may be in so it could be left outside for her to collect.

She said the response was overwhelming and was put in touch with a manager of the Co-op called Paul Bates.

Paul travelled from Clacton on Easter Sunday to open the store and allow the youngster to be reunited with his blanket.

She said she is truly grateful.

She added: “It’s a good 30-minute journey from Clacton to Manningtree, he wouldn’t even accept fuel money but he went above and beyond to help my little boy and he was absolutely ecstatic to have his blanket back, it is way more than just a comforter to him.”
