THERE are traffic problems this morning following two serious accidents on the M11.

The M11 is closed Londonbound between junction 8 (The A120/Stansted) and junction 7 (Harlow).

There are queues southbound on M11 approaching junction 8.

There are also queues westbound on the A120 approaching the M11 at junction 8 from Great Dunmow– not helped by an earlier accident in the queue.

It comes after two serious crashes last night.

Police are appealing for information after a silver Peugeot 206 left the road between on the southbound M11 carriageway between junctions 7 and 6.

It happened last night, at around 7.20pm.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, is being treated for life-threatening injuries and a passenger, an 18 year-old man, is being treated for life-changing injuries.

Three other people have also been treated for injuries which are not as serious.

A police spokesman said: "We need to speak to anyone who saw a silver Peugeot 206 in the moments before the collision or has dash cam footage to call us on 101 quoting incident 1039 of February 13."

They were then called to a second crash on the same carriageway between junctions 8 and 7 at around 9.50pm.

Five vehicles were involved, including two lorries and a car.

The driver of the car has been treated for potentially life-changing injuries.

The police spokesman added: "A lorry driver, a 45 year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

"He is currently in custody.

"If you saw what happened or have dash cam footage on it please call us on 101 quoting incident 1237 of February 13."

UPDATE 11.14AM: The M11 is now open southbound between junction 8 (Stanstead Airport) and junction 7 (Harlow).
