THE devastated family of a former city stockbroker who was struck by a car have paid heartfelt tribute to a "well-known and respected" man.

Michael Hicks, 83, died in hospital after he was struck by a white Seat Ibiza in Heckfords Road, Great Bentley.

The crash happened at around 6.50pm, on Thursday, November 22, and Essex Police are still appealing for information about the incident.

Mr Hicks, from Great Bentley, passed away in hospital on Monday, January 28.

A tribute from Mr Hicks' wife said: "Michael sadly passed away last month following a tragic collision near his home in Great Bentley.

“Michael enjoyed a long career as a city stockbroker and in his retirement was a well-known and respected member of the local community, seen most days walking his dogs on the village green.

"We remain devastated by his sudden loss.”

An Essex Police spokesman confirmed the driver of the vehicle is assisting officers with their enquiries.

He said: "No arrests have been made.

"We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and we would like to hear from anyone with information or dash cam footage."
