CLACTON’S new Lidl store will open its doors to shoppers for the first time next week.

Lidl has confirmed that its new supermarket, at Brook Park West, will open on Thursday, February 14.

It has invited customers to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8am.

They will be offered the chance to sample some of Lidl’s products throughout the day, along with deals and offers on selected products for the first week of opening.

There will be exclusive deals for Clacton shoppers during the opening week, including a pressure washer for £49.99 from Thursday, an overlock sewing machine for £79.99 from Friday and an espresso machine for £29.99 from Saturday.

The company said the new supermarket forms part of its ongoing expansion and regeneration plans in the UK and has created up to 40 new jobs for the local community.

The store has a 1,325 sq metre sales area and features facilities such as an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing, customer toilets, baby changing and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

Andrew Hodgkinson, Lidl UK’s Regional Head of Property, said: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Clacton.

“It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community.”

The firm added it has experienced continued growth over the years as consumers flock to the supermarket to discover its value products.
