AN application for a premises licence for a new wine bar and shop in Frinton will go before licensing bosses.
Susanna Roberts wants to turn the former Hidden Bespoke Hair Design Salon, in Old Road, into a new shop, called Wine-Boutique Frinton.
The applicant said the aim is “to create a wine shop in which customers can also have a drink”.
But neighbour Paul Freedman has objected to the application, which will be decided by Tendring Council’s licensing committee on Friday.
He said: “I feel that if this licence is to be granted, then I and the neighbourhood would suffer from disturbance and noise from customers arriving and leaving or smoking on the pavement.”
Derek Harrington, also of Old Road, added: “There are already a large number of licensed premises in Connaught Avenue, plus two large retail shops where win can be purchased in bulk.”
The application added the shop would sell “high quality wines from small producers”.
Ward councillor Nick Turner previously welcomed the plans.
