A MAN accused of stalking five different women asked a 15-year-old girl out for drinks on more than one occasion, a court has heart.

Samuel Apenteng, 33, faces five charges of stalking relating to five separate young women and one charge of sexual assault.

As the trial entered its second day at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday, the jury heard evidence from one of the alleged victims, who was 15-years-old when the incident took place.

The teenager took the court through what had happened on three occasions she met Apenteng, saying he made her “uncomfortable”.

The first meeting was at a bus stop in Colchester town centre.

She said: “He came up to me and said something then he asked my name.

“We got into more of a conversation and he said he wanted to take me for drinks that night.

“I told him I was too young to drink and I said I was 15-years-old.

“After that the bus came and we both got on.”

The witness said she asked one of her male friends to pretend to be her brother, in order to act as a “deterrent” for Apenteng.

“I felt really uncomfortable that he was getting on the same bus as me so I wanted a back up plan in case,” she said.

The second encounter took place in High Street, Colchester, where she believes Apenteng was following her.

In May, the witness was walking to Asda, in Turner Rise, Colchester, when she was stopped by Apenteng.

She said: “I tried walking away but he stood there saying ‘No stay, do not go’. I felt uncomfortable, he was about a metre away.”

The witness said she told the defendant she was meeting her family inside Asda but he said she should “prove it”.

She said: “I had to call my mum, but my sister answered the phone.

“He told my sister whilst on the phone he was 24-years-old.

“Afterwards he was asking to take me out for drinks and he said he had money, about £4,000, and he asked if I wanted to spend any of the money.”

Apenteng, of Bardsley Close, denies the charges against him.

n The trial continues.

Samuel Apenteng faces five charges of stalking and one count of sexual assault.

The charges relate to five different victims, who are aged between 15 and 28 and all of the offences are alleged to have taken place between the start of February and June 14 of this year - the day when Apenteng, of Bardsley Close, Colchester, was arrested.
