POLICE say a search for a retired car dealer missing from his Clacton home has been suspended after a body was found.
Officers searching for Peter Hyatt, 76, have called off the hunt after a man's body was discovered in the sea near Calais, France, on Wednesday, October 31.
Mr Hyatt was last seen in the Magdalen Green area of Clacton on Sunday, October 21.
He was last in touch with his family by text message at around 7.20pm that evening.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "No formal identification has taken place yet but Mr Hyatt’s family have been informed and our search has been suspended."
