A BUSINESSMAN from Frinton has teamed up with Weeley in Bloom to help spruce up the village.
Craig Newnes, franchisee of the McDonald’s restaurants in Weeley and Clacton, has donated £450 to the group to pay for flowers and litter-picking equipment.
He handed over a cheque to Weeley in Bloom organiser Angela Barnes, who was joined by the Weeley Wombleys
Mr Newnes said: “We are so proud to be working alongside Weeley in Bloom.
“They do a fantastic job in our local community and it is a group I love working with.
“Angela works tirelessly to improve Weeley and its surrounding areas with flower-planting and litter-picking.
“This is only the start and I’m sure over the years we will be working in strong partnership in Weeley to ensure it is litter-free and looking great for its local residents and visitors.”
Weeley Residents’ Association chairman Colin Crane said: “We are delighted to have succeeded in gaining such a close working partnership with such a large company.
“It will certainly help Weeley Residents’ Association with their Fight Against Litter campaign.
“We are also grateful for McDonald’s support in helping to promote an anti-litter ethos in the local school with the help of our Weeley Wombleys.
“We are extremely grateful for the generous donations we have received so far.”
