A REDUNDANT church will be demolished to make way for five new homes.
Burfoot Construction has been given permission to build the three-bedroom bungalows on the site of All Souls’ Catholic Church, in Brighton Road, Holland-on-Sea.
A report said the former use as a place of worship is no longer required and the church has been declared surplus to requirements by the diocese.
It added that the 1960s building is “of a form and design that would prevent any satisfactory alternative use”.
One neighbour objected to the plans due to loss of light and trees as part of the development, but Tendring Council planners said changes to the original plan will now see a hornbeam tree retained.
