RESIDENTS at a care home in Tendring invited a number of four-legged friends to join them for a special open day event.
The team at Silversprings in Thorrington held an open day earlier this month as part of a a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities.
Residents and visitors raised a glass to the Queen on her 92nd birthday, and enjoyed a special afternoon of cream tea and live entertainment from singer, Rosie Sims.
Students from Colchester Institute also attended and performed a number of the residents' favourite songs including White Cliffs of Dover.
Guests also had the opportunity to make some new four-legged friends as Blackwater Pygmy Goats brought a selection of friendly goats and chicks with them for the residents to meet.
Donna Cousins, home manager said: "We had a fantastic day celebrating Care Home Open Day here at Silversprings.
"The residents all really enjoyed the activities – particularly meeting the goats.
"It was fantastic to see so many of our neighbours come along for the party."
