A NEW book gives a fascinating snapshop of Essex in the Sixties and Seventies, showing buses from the two decades.
David Christie has captured not just the retro rides, but also the roadscape of the county in the bygone era.
From a blue and white 315 climbing Southend’s Pier Hill and a green 25A on a much greener Rayleigh Weir to a 370 sitting in traffic in Gray’s town centre and a converted open-topper driving under Southend Pier in 1969 the book captures Essex’s past from an unique standpoint and is more than a little nostalgic.
Buses in Essex the 1960s and 1970s, by David Christie, is published by Amberley, and is out now. £14.99.
