A MOBILE phone company is looking for a site near Kirby le Soken for a new mast to boost phone signals.
The search has been launched by CTIL, a joint venture between Telefonica and Vodafone.
Bosses said there was a need to improve coverage in the area and added a new mast would give a 4G signal, as well as improving 3G coverage.
They asked the town council for possible locations for a mast to limit the impact on residents.
A site off Mumfords Lane, in Kirby Cross, south of Kirby Hall, has been put forward.
Councillor Robert Bucke said: “The consensus among those residents I’ve spoken to is that it would be most suitable somewhere off Mumfords Lane.
“There is an electricity sub-section there and it is far enough away from civilisation not to cause any issues.
The town council backed the suggested location and will put it forward as a preferred option for the mast.
