CLACTON’S cricketers are preparing for what could prove a title-decider.

The Seasiders are second in Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division three – just four points behind leaders Ipswich and East Suffolk.

Now the high-flying rivals are preparing to meet in a crunch contest at Vista Road on Saturday.

“It’s a potential title-decider,” said Clacton chairman Barrie Dunwell.

“If we can win, we’ll give ourselves a very good chance of taking top spot.

“It’s a big incentive for the players, but I don’t think they’ll feel any extra pressure and I’m sure they’ll approach it as they have every other game.

“(Team manager) Gary Kirk is very good and I’m sure he’ll say a few words to put a spring in their step, to give them that extra determination and yard of pace.

“But generally speaking, they’ll have the same mindset as they would for any match.

“They’re a good bunch of boys and never have a cross word or argument.

“There’s never any problem and that’s undoubtedly been a key part of their success this season.

“They’re a team in every sense of the word and I know they’ll go out to play their game and uphold the good name of Clacton Cricket Club.”

The Seasiders were left without a game last weekend when scheduled opponents Little Bardfield Village conceded on Saturday morning.
