HUNDREDS of youngsters from Colchester schools have taken part in the Crucial Crew event at the town’s Weston Homes Community Stadium.
The event, funded and hosted by the Safer Colchester Partnership, teaches pupils about safety and awareness.
Organisations taking part include Essex Police, advising on internet safety, Essex County Fire and Rescue and Essex Highways, talking about fire and road safety, and Colchester Borough Homes, talking about antisocial behaviour.
Anti-weapons charity, Only Cowards Carry, is speaking to the Year 6 youngsters about being aware of the dangers of knife crime.
Anglian Community Enterprise is giving advice on smoking while Alcohelp is giving support on alcohol awareness and legal highs.
The event runs until Friday.
