MOST people are happy to get a card from the Queen on their 100th birthday, but football mad Bill Lush was thrilled when he received a signed photo from his beloved West Ham United.
Care home staff in Clacton tipped off the Hammers about Bill’s big day.
And the club did him proud, sending a card and a photo autographed by the first-team stars.
Bill grew up in Barking and supported his local football team, as well as being a lifelong West Ham supporter.
He married wife Eileen in 1940 and they went on to have two children.
Bill also worked as a joiner and made some beautiful pieces of furniture.
Corner House spokeswoman Tracy Josko said: “As an avid football supporter, we felt it was only right to let his favourite football team know about his milestone birthday.
“Along with his card from the Queen, he was over the moon to receive a card, letter, badge and autographed photo of West Ham’s first team.”
