PLANS to create a major three-storey apartment block on a former caravan site in Walton have been given the green light.
The bid to build a complex, including 60 extra-care apartments, on the former Martello Caravan Park site was unveiled by developer Ashley House.
It has now been given the go-ahead by Tendring Council planning officers, despite opposition from Frinton and Walton Town Council.
The plan includes 48 single- bed apartments and 12 double units. It will be built on the middle part of the former caravan site, overlooking the Martello Tower.
The apartments will be a type of sheltered housing, allowing residents to live independently, but with support.
