ANGRY midwives walked out of Clacton Hospital for four hours over a pay dispute.
NHS staff want a one per cent pay rise for all employees, but the Government says it will cost too much.
Royal College of Midwives union members, retired staff and mums formed a picket line outside Clacton Hospital, in Tower Road, at 7am on Monday.
They joined 400,000 union members across the country for the industrial action.
“All we want is a below-inflation one per cent pay rise,” said Clacton midwife and union rep Emma Sarson.
“The independent NHS pay review body suggested the figure, but for the first time ever the Government has rejected the recommendation.
“Enough is enough – we feel we are worth one per cent."
