A KILLER’S ex-girlfriend who was convicted of hiding evidence in his murder trial has been released from prison after spending just nine weeks behind bars.
Clacton teen Jay Whiston, 17, was killed outside a house party in Colchester in 2012 after receiving a fatal stab wound to the heart.
Edward Redman was convicted of his murder earlier this year and was jailed for 17 years.
His ex-girlfriend Shannon Fenlon, 19, was also sentenced to nine months in prison for perverting the course of justice after being found guilty of hiding evidence.
But Fenlon has now been released from prison after spending nine weeks behind bars.
Jay Whiston’s mum Caroline Shearer said: “This is no punishment and it’s no kind of justice after what we’ve been through.”
