TOWNS and parishes have been drawing up plans to support residents in the event of a major incident.
Six councils have been presented with community emergency packs by Tendring District Council after completing local emergency plans.
Brightlingsea Town Council was one of the recipients, along with parish council representatives from Alresford, Elmstead, Frating, St Osyth and Weeley.
Lynda McWilliams, Tendring councillor responsible for wellbeing, said: “The emergency planning team is working with a number of groups and organisations so that they will be able to support their community in the event of an emergency.
“This may be extreme weather such as heavy snowfall, high rainfall or flooding, high temperatures or some other kind of incident.”
The council is also working with caravan and holiday parks in the district.
