A £10 MILLION rebuild of a crumbling north Essex school will begin this summer.
Ofsted inspectors say the education given to children with moderate learning difficulties and autism at Market Field School, in Elmstead Market, is outstanding.
However, as demand for places has increased, pupils have increasingly been taught in hastily constructed demountable classrooms.
Now, Essex County Council has approved a £9.9 million project the demolition, design and rebuild of the school, which will also create 44 more pupil places.
Headteacher Gary Smith said: “It has been exceptionally rewarding to see the school grow and develop over the past few years and having a new building that is fit for purpose means this has been recognised.
”Expanding the school is great news for parents as not only can we take more pupils but it means their children will be taught in pleasant and modern environment.
“It is an exciting time for the school and I’m looking forward to seeing the new building in 2015.”
