FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a barn blaze at a farm in Brightlingsea.
The outbuilding off Lower Farm Lane contained 400 bales of straw and was 100 per cent alight when crews arrived at about 5.30pm.
Additional crews and water supplies were called to the scene and they worked to battle the flames while trying to prevent the building’s roof from collapsing.
The incident was under control just after 7pm but firefighters remained at the scene until 10pm, turning over and damping down until the fire was completely extinguished.
An investigation will be carried out by the fire service into the cause of the blaze.
