As a founder member he was a keen competitor at Harwich Town Sailing Club in the boat he built himself, also helping youngsters learn to sail. He then lived in Point Clear, St. Osyth where league table tennis Royal British Legion November door to door poppy collections and photography were his activities. He was known through the eastern counties for giving slide-show travel talks to various groups, and a judge for photographic/camera club competitions. Recently John's diagnosis of vascular dementia & Parkinson's robbed him of his activities. He accepted it calmly, still remembering friends. Having been lovingly cared for at Haven Lodge Nursing Home, John drifted away peacefully on 24.4.24 knowing he had family at his side. On Friday 31.5.24 family & friends will gather outside Harwich Town Sailing Club, Angelgate, Harwich CO12 3EJ. Then at 12:30 p.m. we follow the hearse to Dovercourt Cemetery, CO12 4LW. In the chapel there, the funeral will be held at 1:15 p.m. Never say, with grief "He is no more". Only say, with thankfulness "He was". The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lesley Barlow & Family
