A YOUNGSTER scooped tickets to see this year's pantomime in Clacton after winning a competition to design the show's poster.

Cordelia Davis, a five-year-old student with The Dance House Academy, won the tickets to Princes Theatre's Cinderella panto.

Last month, the venue announced a competition for young artists to design unique posters to celebrate this year's show.

The youngsters had a chance to win four tickets to Cinderella, a goody bag, a Pantomime programme, and a signed booklet.

The winner's poster will also be featured in the pantomime programme and displayed in the Town Hall Foyer for Princes Theatre customers to enjoy.

The winner was announced last week, and when Nadine Davis, Cordelia's mother, shared the news with her, she was excited to take her family and sister, Lyra, to see the pantomime and her poster.

Cordelia said: "When my Mum told me I had won the competition, I was so happy, and I jumped about because I was so excited.

"I can't wait to see my own poster at the theatre."

She loves arts and crafts and has a passion for singing and dancing, to the point where she can draw and paint for hours.

Nadine added: "At The Dance House Academy, Cordelia enjoys her Musical Theatre classes along with Ballet, Tap and Singing.

"She has performed onstage at the Princes Theatre herself with her dance school, and with her love for art, this project seemed perfect for her.

"Her Dad and I are very proud of her achievements and are super excited for her to see her poster displayed."

A spokesman from the Princes Theatre said: "Running this competition for the first time, we had no idea what to expect, and we would like to thank everyone who entered.

"We received some fantastic entries, and it was tough to pick just one winner as each picture was extraordinary.

"We could tell Cordelia, aged only five years old, had spent a lot of time on her entry, and her drawing of Cinderella was brilliantly detailed, an imaginative design with some added sparkle and butterflies."

Cinderella pantomime will be performed at the Princes Theatre on Station Road in Clacton from Saturday, December 10, until Sunday, January 1.
