ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) THE A12 TRUNK ROAD (JUNCTION 27, SPRING LANE INTERCHANGE) AND THE A120 TRUNK ROAD (CROWN INTERCHANGE TO RAMSEY) (ESSEX) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2016

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) has made an Order on the A12 and A120 Trunk Roads in Essex to enable vehicle safety fence replacement, carriageway resurfacing and drainage works to be carried out in safely. The works are expected to take place over 4 months (8pm-6am) starting on, or after, Monday 9 January 2017 and will be carried out using a combination of carriageway and slip road closures, lane 2 closures and narrow lanes. Three way traffic signals will be used during works on Wix Bypass, and temporary mandatory speed limits will be In force at times in the interest of safety.

For the purpose of this notice the A120/A12/A1232 Crown Interchange, will be referred

to as Crown Interchange.

The effect of the Order will be to-

1. Impose for 24 hours daily, a speed limit of 40 miles per hour or 50 miles per hour on the A120-



? eastbound and westbound carriageway between its junctions with the A12 trunk road at Crown Interchange and a point 150 metres west of Primrose Lane, Wix,



? eastbound entry slip road at Crown Interchange,



? westbound exit slip road at Crown Interchange, and



? link road at Hare Green from the centre point of Harwich Road underbridge to its merge with A120 westbound carriageway.



2. Close the A120-



? westbound carriageway from Harwich Road, Little Bentley to its merge with the A12 trunk road at Crown Interchange - diverting westbound traffic to exit at Harwich Road and continue via the A133 and A1232 to re-join the A120 at Crown Interchange,



? westbound carriageway between Horsley Cross Roundabout and the entry slip road at Hare Green - diverting traffic via the B1035, B1033 and A133 to re-join the A120 at Hare Green,



? eastbound and westbound carriageways between Horsley Cross Roundabout and Ramsey Roundabout - diverting eastbound traffic to exit at Horsley Cross then via the B1035 and B1352 to re-join the A120 at Ramsey, westbound traffic will be diverted to exit at Ramsey Roundabout then via the B1352, B1414, B1033 and B1035 to re-join the A120 at Horsley Cross,



? eastbound carriageway from its merge from the A12 northbound carriageway to the entry slip road at Crown Interchange - diverting traffic to exit at A12 J27, Spring Lane Interchange then via A133 and A1232 to join the A120 at Crown Interchange,



? westbound exit slip road at Crown Interchange,



? eastbound entry slip at Crown Interchange,



? eastbound exit slip road to the A1232 Crown Interchange roundabout, and



? link road at Hare Green from the centre point of Harwich Road underbridge to its merge with A120 westbound carriageway - diverting traffic via the A133 and A1232 to join the A120 at Crown Interchange to continue their journey, and



theA12-

? northbound exit slip road at J27, Spring Lane Interchange - diverting traffic to exit at A12 J26 Eight Ash Green Interchange then via A1124 and A133 to Spring Lane Roundabout to continue their journey.



All lay-bys adjacent to the length of A120 described at 1 above will remain closed for 24 hours daily whilst the Order is in force.

Access to properties will be maintained during the closures where necessary, and there would be restricted access to or from the A120 from various side roads The temporary mandatory speed limits (which will not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles), closures (which will not apply to works, emergency service, traffic officer or winter maintenance vehicles) and diversion routes will be clearly Indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.

The Order will come into force on 2 January 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
