Man stabbed in Clacton: Two arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Clacton.

Police were contacted on Saturday at 11.45pm following reports a man had been stabbed at the junction of St John’s Road, Valley Road and Old Road.

Officers found a Clacton man, 24, with stab wounds to his body.

He was taken to Colchester General Hospital and was subsequently transferred to Basildon Hospital where he is in a stable condition.

A man, 47,and a woman, 23, both from Clacton, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A police cordon is in place at the scene while a forensic examination takes place.

Chief Insp Paul Wells said: "We are not linking this stabbing to any other previous incident.

"We realise this is the second knife-related attack in the past couple of months and the seriousness of this problem is not lost on us.

"However, we are confident in saying that the issue is only prevalent in a small section of the town and is confined to a similarly small section of society."

Anyone with information in connection with this stabbing can call Clacton police on 101.

How will I get a set of carving knifes home from the shops without getting arrested. No only joking I agree especially speaking as a person who was recently attacked by a thing holding a craft knife.

It's alright bringing in hefty sentences for knife crime, but the prisons are like a holiday camp, ps3's, tellies, drugs, and an overall criminal breeding ground, these need to be sorted out first....Then the Judges need to be more harsh, they are too scared of Human Rights, where's the victims human rights, too many times thugs and criminals get off lightly because of this issue..we are on Facebook trying to get Clacton Residents who care about where we live and bring up our children....Do we want our kids brought up in this scum ridden town ?
There is too many other borough's offloading their "Scum" into Clacton, clacton has way too many bedsits and rent able flats that are cheap, look at Ellis road, theres 70 bedsits there, it's like Beirut, scum breeding grounds, all fighting for their own "yard", soon that block near "burcarts" is going to be the same, and "empire court" , this youth culture has got to be stopped, and the way to do this is give them proper "time", harsher sentences for repeat known "gangstas" who carry knives and commit petite crime.

They also need to stamp out the drug dealers in the town as half the violence in Clacton is down to drugs. Getting them off the streets and keeping them in jail is a start!

LOL Asking the cause of the problem to fix the problem is insane!!!! This is cause by the councils neglect and you ask them for help. Get involved and form groups and demand answers from the council as to why there is so investment in the town. Tesco and the like suck the money out of this town and have left it a dead end dump, filled with broken minded zombies! Those that arnt are filled with fear and hide behind their curtains afraid of the big bad wolf. Stop being scared and do something about it! We are the many and we are legion

The blame lies solely with the person who chooses to carry the knife and stab someone - I'm fed up with hearing it's - because of this and because of that. A lot of have had unemployment/hard life etc, it's not an excuse to kill/maim others!!!!

Well you really need to look at the bigger picture. In sociaties where there is a big gap between those who have and those who have not, crime and violence increase. Look at the situation in south african getthos. Look at the lifes of those who live in the Borios of mexico. Yes of course the idiot with a knife is responsible for his actions, but so are we all. If we continue to act in such selfish and porcine ways, how can we complain when we see the decine of our sociaty. Its time to stop looking after number one and see that we are all connected to each other by our actions!!! Grow uip for gods sake!

e are trying to form a group of residents, come and like the facebook page, and get involved, its in early days, but the more fans create a bigger voice, councillors and police will be invited later once the group is big enough.
I am a Clacton Resident for 40 years, and am disgusted at the amount of "freeloading scum" wandering about creating Antisocial crime.

Please enlighten me on how the decent, residents of Clacton are being selfish whilst all they are trying to do is get on with their everyday lives? How are they responsible for this? And I would ask that you be a little more respectful, after all this is a free debate

Everyone has been saying that we should go back to Victorian times when things were different. Sorry to disillusion those people, things were even harsher with even more crime and poverty. The only differnece was the sort of punishments meeted out, much more severe and effective, that bit I like.

Firstly the "Decent" residents of this town do nothing and expect change to come. The voting turn out is a joke, attendence of town planning meetings is laughable and a brisk walk through the town centre will reveil masses of people who dare not look each other in the eyes! I offer my full respects to the people of this town and welcome free debate. However this is a comments section of the townhall propaganda bull horn and we are entitled to voice our veiws. It is easy to blame the idiots in this mess of a town, but much harder to look at yourself and ask could you do more for your community. It is even harder face the fact that those charged with the administration of this town have let us all down.

Why not just build chav concentration camps and gass em all? Fill trains across the land with anyone deemed as a chav and ship em into internment camps.......even better why not invest in building Chav gulags , it would increase employment and reduce the population at the same time!!! jaceylacey it is also because landlords get London rate for there property’s for the first year off the council they come from if they take them, which has the effect of falsely inflating rents in this area what happens to those landlords that participate when this payment stops who knows

Another point the sos bus I believe is sponsored by open road very commendable but if it wasn’t for there presence I doubt if we would have as many druggy’s hear. And I’m told of another as I type called restart they apparently also bring allsorts of undesirables to this area.

I agree with Grinch too. It's a shame that a nice town has got so bad. I have nothing against decent people retiring here from London after working hard all their lives.All they want is a bit of peace and quiet in what was once a lovely town. They move down here to enjoy what was OUR way of life and most fitted in quite happily.
But just lately we do seem to be aquiring a lot of what is palmed off on us as 'Afforable Housing' built with finances from outside of the area. Do we house our own in these properties? of course we don't. We just let outside councils fill them full of their overspill, most of them the type that even they don't want.
As for knives, unless you have a receipt that says you have just purchased them, it should be a mandatory jail term for having them about your person.
The police should also get out and about a bit more, by that I don't mean hopping in their cars to pop to the shop or take away.
Last night was abysmal , the amount of drunks screeching and shouting around the town was far above what it normally is.

i totally agree i have lived in clacton nearly all my life i remember my parents use to leave the front and back door unlocked. cant do that nowa days everything has to be locked tight. i have 4 children and i dont want my children being brought up around all of these stabbings. my oldest is 12 and has behavouir problems i fear for him walking to school (even though we live 5 mins away from the school).
it was only a few weeks ago i got told 4 18years olds were starting on him it makes me so angry why start on a 12 year old cause on the colour of his hair.

clacton is far worse than jaywick i live near clacton town centre i dont go in2 town at nite since the 1st stabbing.

This is really starting to get out of control now.
I mean, sure you get these problems in almost every large town and city, but it seems some people just don't fit into society if they have the mind to pick up a dangerous weapon and use it!
We've already had two fatalities due to knife crime, and as if that isn't already enough!
There is a petition: S.a.k.S.a.l (Snatch a knife, Save a Life), which shows that some people are trying to do some good in the town.
If someone is caught with a knife, they should be locked up for a decade.
If they use that knife, with the knowledge that it can cause serious injury or death, then they should get life - end of!

you are so right these people are scum i moved to clacton last year and my son was badly beaten outside mcDonalds in the town centre for no reason at all by 5 cowards .

I can't understand where the notion that Clacton was once a nice place comes from, the place has always been a dump the introduction of London overspill and problem families in the last few years has some what added to the problems but lets not fool ourselves that this town has ever been a nice place to live or that the problems are the work of "outsiders".

Got to agree with that one ever since I was little its been the same it used to happen mostly outside the railway pub them day’s its gone now. Them days jaywick was virtually trouble free and it was nice place to live even brooklands was safe then, not any more.
