WHILE I do try to respect other’s needs, as I hope they will respect mine, I fail to see this obsession with the commercial fiasco that is the current Olympic Games.
The best part of the front page of the November 10 issue was taken up with the story that councillor Stephen Mayzes is nearly suicidal at the fact that Tendring has been overlooked as far as the torch ceremony is concerned.
Do we really care? Are there not other issues that need to be addressed before a lighted flame is given this sort of prominence?
I, and many more, think he should direct his energies into more pressing and important local issues.
He will justify his concerns saying that local businesses have lost out on revenue that would have been generated by an individual running with this lighted torch. What a load of nonsense.
I will be shutting down all incoming media programmes about this event and feel glad that I live far enough away from the capital so as not to be directly affected by it.
