WAS that a Tory fairytale or just a story with a happy ending which Councillor Griffiths was writing about last week? (postbag, March 26). Or was it just a total U-turn by the Tendring Tories?
Councillor Griffiths says the Tories survey residents for their views to improve the area and safeguard it for generations to come.
Well last year 600 residents in East Clacton made their voices heard to safeguard an open space. They campaigned long and hard to keep a piece of open space land for future generations. They had plans, money and volunteers to make this wildlife haven into a pocket park for all the community to use.
But what did local Tories do? Not one voted to save the land for future generations. All eight Tories on the planning committee voted to build on the land and cover it with concrete. Some legacy for the future!
