Health Meetings

AS one of the Tendring Public Governors of Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust (CHUFT), I would like to bring to public attention the next members’ council meeting, to which you are all invited. This meeting is being held in Training Block South, Colchester Hospital at 10am on April 2.

There will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions and meet the public governors afterwards.

These meetings are held quarterly and arranged at venues across the district. The next will be in Dovercourt on July 19.

In addition to these meetings, CHUFT give a series of monthly health talks, on a variety of subjects and at different venues. The next will be at the Post Graduate Centre at Colchester Hospital on the subject of Parkinson’s Disease. May’s meeting will be about the ‘Modern Matron’ in Pier Avenue Baptist Church in Clacton.

These talks start at 6.30pm. Public governors are normally in attendance and would be pleased to listen to any concerns or comments you may wish to bring to their attention.

We all know how important the health service is to everyone, and that public participation is critical, both in maintaining and improving these services. A vital part of that participation is the patient experience which is most effectively expressed through face-to-face contact. This is when patients and carers can really explain what happened to them, how they were treated, what was good and what wasn’t and how it could be improved. This is why governors welcome any comments, criticisms or compliments you may have about services received from Colchester Hospital. It is one of the best methods of making your voice heard.

Should you wish to speak to a governor please contact Becci Hurst or Tammy Diles at: Members Office, Colchester Hospital, Turner Road, CO4 5JL or call 0800 7837328.

New trust members are welcome, it costs nothing and you will receive regular newsletters and information of all activities and meetings as well as having the opportunity to have your say on any matter that concerns you.

F Baker.
