Young U's beaten at Needham Market

Colchester United's under-21 side fell to a 3-1 defeat at Needham Market, in a pre-season friendly.

Former Stanway Rovers striker Sam Newson did the damage, scoring a hat-trick for the hosts to see off Richard Hall's development side.

Tosin Olufemi scored the U's consolation goal, against the Ryman League side.

Colchester's next pre-season friendly is their home game with Championship outfit Derby County, on Friday night.

Went to see this game have to say i am really sorry to say colchester first team can safely sleep at night with the knowledge there is no threat of them being dislodged as for Bender forget it well out of his depth only good thing was Drey wright he did have a brain. Also i am worried about our goalkeeper situation poor on last nights showing. £8 wasted

I agree myhouse, I hate having to say this, but young Bender will never be a centre back, but I agree on Drey Wright, I think he has a future.
