DAN Azeez says it will be a boost to have Essex University Boxing Club head coach Gordon Charlesworth as his cornerman on Saturday night.

Azeez returns to action at MTK Global's Battleground show at the Brentwood Centre, with his mentor Charlesworth assisting him during the bout.

Having taken his Pro Licence, Charlesworth is now permitted to accompany Azeez, who is also coached by Brian O'Shaughnessy in London.

Charlesworth worked with Azeez over a period of more than seven years at the Colchester-based amateur club, helping the Londoner turn professional last year.

And the 28-year-old light heavyweight, who is aiming to advance his professional record to 3-0 this weekend, says he is raring to go.

Azeez told the Daily Gazette: "It will be good to have Gordon there with on the night.

"I'm feeling good and it's business as usual.

"I want to go in and get the job done.

"I'm feeling confident, especially with two pro wins under my belt.

"I'm feeling in better and better shape with every fight.

"I don't know my opponent yet but whoever I take on, I'm confident in my own ability to go in and do well.

"I don't fear anyone and I'm looking forward to it."

Azeez will be looking to follow up his impressive first two performances, as a professional.

He beat Craig Nicholson after a fourth-round stoppage last month, following up his pro debut win over Daniel Borisov last December.

Azeez could be in line for another bout next month but the three-time South of England champion insists that is something he will embrace.

"It's been good having fights in quick succession," said Azeez, who took part in 60 amateur bouts before turning professional.

"It's something I was used to at Essex University, so it's not like I'm not used to it.

"I expect a good atmosphere on Saturday night and a lot of people will be there supporting me, even more than my last bout.

"I've had more people asking me for tickets, this time.

"My profile is rising and I expect it to continue increasing.

"I like to entertain, whether it's my ring entrance or the boxing itself."

Meanwhile, Charlesworth said he is looking forward to accompanying Azeez at the Brentwood Centre.

He said: "It's another big night for Dan and he will be looking to go out and perform.

"I'm happy to be in the corner with him and Dan still comes back to our club to train.

"I contacted Dan's coach Brian O'Shaughnessy and he said he's happy for us to work together with him."
