BARBARA Rowe won Stoke by Nayland Golf Club's Present and Past Ladies’ Captains annual home match.

She claimed the salver, presented by Past Ladies’ Captains, Joce Mallett and Anne Soar, after winning by 30 points on the Gainsborough course.

Fiz Grundy scored 29 points to finish runner-up on countback.

The best front nine was won by Ann Thomas with 18 points, while the best back nine was achieved by Present Ladies’ Captain Anne Hemmings (16 points).

There was some great scoring as Stoke by Nayland ladies played their Daily Mail Foursomes competition on the Gainsborough course.

Mandy Byham and Lesley Hithcock were overall winners with 37 points, a point ahead of second-placed Anne Hemmings and Corinne Jackson.

In third place were Diana Harris and Betty Cox on countback, with 34 points.

Stoke by Nayland's Lady Vets section played their annual nine-hole matchplay Lady Vets Captain versus Lady Vets Secretary competition, on the Gainsborough course.

In a close game, the Captain's team emerged overall winners.
